tHE PEOPLE’S VOICE for THE CULTURE’S MOST INSPIRING MOMENTS

THE BOOK OF HOV, section viii: “Hov did that”

Hip-Hop turned 50, and Roc Nation sought the voice of the fans to narrate Jay-Z’s legacy. As fate would have it, I had the honor of voicing The Book of Hov—Section VIII: Hov Did That, the grand closing documentary of the Brooklyn Public Library exhibit—an experience that welcomed over 600,000 visitors and spiked library attendance by 74%. The film delves into Jay-Z’s career, his influence on Hip-Hop, and his cultural impact. Every word I delivered aimed to capture his relentless drive—the same force that "kicked down the door to let the culture in."

2023 ADCOLOR AWARDS HONOREE VIDEO

Three years after 2020, the push for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive industry stood at a crossroads. The success of our communities proved the power of cultural capital—yet history had shown how that same power could be diminished, ignored, or erased. As government support for diverse voices waned, a statement needed to be made—not just about our industry, but about culture at large.

ADCOLOR needed a voice that carried the weight of the moment. That’s where I came in. I became the voice of the people—those fighting to ensure our representation remains authentic, undeniable, and full of integrity. Through my narration, I didn’t just tell the story; I reinforced the urgency of our presence, making sure the message wasn’t just heard but felt. Because at CM Effect, storytelling isn’t passive—it’s a tool for change.
